Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become integral to modern business, transforming operations across industries. At the recent Google Summit in Singapore, Caroline Yap, Google’s Managing Director of Global AI Business, emphasized AI’s role in driving business growth and security. Yap pointed to Google’s Vertex AI platform, which enables companies to design custom models tailored to their specific needs, giving businesses an efficient, secure way to implement AI solutions.
Custom Solutions for Unique Business Needs
For instance, Google’s MedLM, a specialized AI model for healthcare, is revolutionizing how companies like Prudential manage medical insurance claims. With MedLM, Prudential has doubled its automated claim processing speed, improving accuracy and customer satisfaction. “MedLM has streamlined claim reviews, allowing us to serve clients faster,” shared Arjan Toor, Prudential’s CEO of Health.
AI’s Role in Enhancing Cybersecurity
As AI becomes more common, cyber threats are on the rise, posing new challenges. Mark Johnston, Google Cloud APAC’s Chief Security Information Officer, highlighted AI’s “defenders’ advantage.” By establishing a baseline for normal operations, Google’s machine learning helps security teams detect and respond to unusual activity swiftly.
Johnston outlined Google’s use of large language models (LLMs) to boost code security, reducing vulnerabilities by 15% and freeing up teams to tackle complex issues. “Our goal is to empower defenders, keeping them focused on securing systems instead of paperwork,” he said.
A Responsible Approach to AI Security
However, Johnston stressed the importance of responsible AI integration. Google’s Secure AI Framework (SAIF) supports businesses in balancing innovation with security. This framework includes modules for data governance and risk management, helping companies use AI without exposing sensitive data.
As Google pushes the boundaries of AI, its technology offers businesses the tools to innovate while staying secure. Let us know your thoughts, how do you see AI shaping your industry?
